Ok guys, don’t be fooled. This is not even dubstep. Most of it anyways. And it’s not even a 10-track album. Better yet, it’s a compilation of 16 remixes/mashups by Mochipet, whose mind we’re not gonna even try to figure out. But the point is: it is new, it is free, and it has a 420 song on it. The rest of it, you’re definitely gonna either love or hate. Mochipet ain’t no half-stepping!

With his signature dark and psychedelic beats and powerfully driving sub-bass, Elfkowitz creates a marvelous and intricate backdrop for the light, ethereal, and absolutely breath-taking vocals of Mimi Page. With styles that act as a perfect counter-balance to each-other, Mimi Page and Elfkowitz are getting ready for the release of their 4-track collaborative album, a melancholy yet beautifully uplifting ride through the heart and soul of these passionate musicians.

Make sure to check out my favorite song on the album, “You Lead I’ll Follow”. Soft yet powerful, sultry yet classy, this song is a quintessential example of the power and unlocked potential of musical collaboration. New FREE Mochipet Mashup Album: 10 Reasons to Love Hate Dubstep

It is curious why Mochipet named his latest Mashup/Remix Album: “10 REASONS TO LOVE HATE LOVE HATE DUBSTEP” considering there are 16 tracks on this release and many of them are not even technically considered Dubstep, but what we do know is that it is a collection of hard hitting Remixes from our Godzilla like Beatsmith from the San Francisco Bay Area, some old, some new, some unreleased but all worth checking out. The remixes range from Hip-Hop to Hipster to straight up well… Def Leppard! Mochipet makes these beats his bitch and you’ll be hard pressed to find one you don’t “Love” or “Hate” or is it a “Love Hate” relationship? Landed is the third LP from idm and downtempo producer A.VanVranken, produced and fine-tuned over several years. Taking a cue from more mellow idm and ambient influences such as The Flashbulb and Autechre, Landed is grounded in melody and intentional beats rather than the harder idm-style turbulent noise. Starting things off confidently with the sunny roadtrip of ‘Tomorrow’ and ending with the deliberate calm chaos of ‘Scy’, the album guides one through bright and danceable head-bobbing moments, industrial suspense, and introspective interludes catered by mysterious, unintelligible vocal samples allowing you to insert your own context into each track. Elements of non-idm artists such as El-P and Black Moth Super Rainbow sneak into tracks like ‘Trench’ and ‘Miguel’ to add variety and complexity to the soundscape, with intriguing distortions and repetitive glitchy hooks scattered throughout to flow it together in a carefully-arranged and cohesive package. Landed might best be described as ‘active background glitchbient shoegaze’ – a soundtrack for a beautiful day spent outside, or afterhours chilling at home.

Mochipet “Chicxulub” Grassroots Hat Contest Winner Picked!

To celebrate the release of Mochipet’s new record “Chicxulub” which came out on STS9’s 1320 Records 8/16, he chose to give one lucky fan a chance to win a Mochipet Grassroots hat before they go on sale to the public. Mochipet’s “Chicxulub” out on 1320 Records today!

The wait is over! ‘Chicxulub’ is now available for purchase-GET IT NOW!

Mochipet’s latest release on 1320 Records ‘Chicxulub’, is the soundtrack for an animated novel in which the Dinosaurs make their way through the impact of the comet believed to have destroyed them. The album starts off with a highly compressed glitch-hop bass number ‘Dinosaur Anthems’ signaling the dark that is arriving along to where ‘Yoshi’s Dinosaur Egg Hunt’ guides you through Fraggle Rawk-style landscapes in search of the young that are left to live on. The Dinosaurs eventually leave the planet, taking off in their ‘Pterodactyl Spaceship’ to new undiscovered lands. But they do not make it out easily; there are a number of alien life forms that have invaded in ‘The Battle of Dinotropolis’ (Featuring Ben Samples). With everything destroyed all that is left are ‘Fossils’ and our prehistoric creatures are left to find ‘A Home Away From Home.’ So ‘Ghost Ride The Ark’ to Outer Space we go! Whether our Dino friends make it to their new homes is unsure as ‘I Really Don’t Think We Are Ok ACE.’ The Saga is To Be Continued…

XLR8R -Mochipet “Yoshi’s Dinosaur Egg Hunt”

The purple-dinosaur-suit-wearing producer known as Mochipet is a week away from releasing his latest LP, Chicxulub (artwork above), for the 1320 label. Here, we have the record’s first single, an energetic slice of epic beat work that matches videogame-style arpeggiators (check the title) along with an over-powering breakbeat and a healthy dose of low-end rumble. Considering “Yoshi’s Dinosaur Egg Hunt” is only the second track of the album, which is said to serve as “the soundtrack for an animated novel in which the dinosaurs make their way through the impact of the comet believed to have destroyed them,” it’s safe to say that Chicxulub is going to be one propulsive collection of boom-bappery when it drops August 16.
