“I have always been a fan of Tool ever since I started playing guitar as a kid, and I always wanted to do something with Kendrick Lamar. But after hearing so many Hip-Hop and Dance remixes of Swimming Pools (Drank) I felt like I would just be adding more noise to a already saturated trend. I wanted to do something different. So after hearing “Sober” come on my pandora station I thought this would be a perfect mash-up. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it. Mochipet Psilocybin Samurai Remix Contest Winner Announced!

Last month we launched The Mochipet Psilocybin Samurai Remix Contest presented by TheUntz.com with our friends from Ableton, Keith McMillen Instruments, Serato, iZotope, Drum Pads 24, and DJ TechTools and asked you to create a remix for two songs off Mochipet’s new release Cractal Frunk and Psilocybin Samurai. What we received was nothing short of amazing!

 

 

First off thank you to everyone who submitted remixes for the contest. The production value was top notch and way more than we had ever expected. The judges (Mochipet, edIT of the Glitch Mob, Z-Trip, Ill.Gates, and Mr. Lif) had a extremely hard time picking a clear winner. There was definitely more than one song that stood out as the best remix in terms of composition and production value. However since we have have to pick one we will say our Grand Prize winner is Pockitz! and Runner Up is Dreameater!. More than honorable mentions go out to Atomic Reactor, Otist Reading, Mass Relay, Wobble Maharajas, PRE + END, and Nocturnum. And just so you know that we really did love all these remixes we would like to invite all the honorable mentions to be on the remix album as well! Thank you all for the time and energy you put into this we really appreciate it, keep making amazing music. Keep an eye out for The Mochipet Psilocybin Samurai Remix album which will be out next month!

Mochipet) shares with us the background “I remember vividly when I started working on this track with my friend Mr Lif because it is the exact time my father began having severe health problems. So much so that it forced him to enter the hospital several times soon after. He was in such bad shape I had to stop touring and take time off from music completely. This was a dark time in my life, I stopped working on music all together, my heart was not in it. But even so I knew I had to do something, so what spare time I had I would slowly work on spark. The lyrics within it resonated with me. “If you envision that light through the dark, through the spirit of the heart better follow that spark” It reminded me that it’s often in times of darkness you need the light the most, and sometimes the only place this can come from is from within. EDM.com Premieres Mochipet’s Remix of Kraddy’s “No One Saves Us But Ourselves”

Mochipet and Kraddy are at it again remixing each other. You may remember the 2009 remix of “Godzilla Porn” and “Marshall Bass Stacks.” Now it seems they have grown up a bit with “No One Saves Us But Ourselves” and “Spark (not yet released).”  Whatever the case, they are always monster remixes and great pieces of music. Mochipet help The Bangerz Crew make a track for the new Jabbawockeez Prism Show!

Mochipet collaborated with The Bangerz for the track titled Mothership on the new Jabbawockeez PRiSM Soundtrack! For those who are not familiar, Jabbawockeez is an eight-member, all male, hip-hop dance crew best known for being the winners of the first season of America’s Best Dance Crew. They were initially formed by members Kevin “KB” Brewer, Phil “Swagger Boy” Tayag, & Joe “Punkee” Larot under the name “3 Muskee”. By 2004, their members included Ben “B-Tek” Chung, Chris “Cristyle” Gatdula, Rynan “Kid Rainen” Paguio, and Jeff “Phi” Nguyen. Tony “Transformer” Tran joined the crew in 2013. The Jabbawockeez do not have a leader of the group; choreography for their performances as well as music and design choices are made as a collective unit!

James Brown Father’s Day Remix

Hello All,

As some of you know my father was recently in and out of the hospital for his chronic asthma issues which has made him weak with his other health problems he’s been having due to his age. Because of this I have had to take a break from Mochipet so I could help him with daily stuff around the house. It’s been over a month and he is doing way better now. I recently just got my studio setup at my new house and my father urged me to get back to work and write more music. I’ve always loved James Brown’s music but have never remixed it so it was only fitting to do this for you all for Father’s Day!

So Here’s to my Dad and all the Dad’s who support their kids around the world! I hope you enjoy this quick little remix I made today. It feels good to get back to writing music!

Threesomes With Moog and Mochipet

A few weeks ago I had a really good Threesome in my Studio with my Moog Little Phatty, Access Virus, and Roland TR-707.  I made a post on my Facebook about it and everyone showed an immediate interest in the sounds I was making, so I had an idea! Why not post up these sounds for everyone in the world to share? So here it is, I finally had some time to edit these sounds and upload them for your own audio pleasure! Feel free to use  these in your own production and creative adventures, I hope you  have fun with them.

About these sounds. They were recorded straight to computer via my RME ADI-8 DS and then normalized and dithered down to 44k 16bit. When there is a pitch applicable, the pitch is in C. The Moog Little Phatty was processed with Moogerfooger MURF and Ring Modulator Pedals as well as the CP-251.
