bk-logo

Subatomic Sound Radio focuses on all things dubwise and otherwise: dub reggae, dubstep, dancehall, and the many electronic sounds that forward on from there. For nearly a decade, its host, Emch, has been the producer, selector, musician and label head behind Subatomic Sound System, a Brooklyn, NYC based collective dedicated to preserving and extending the many roots and branches of Jamaican dubwise studio techniques and the sound system tradition. Its quite an honor to be added to this prestigious station.

chickenhed3

The hilarious ChickenHed collective has just released a new compilation, ChickenHed 3: Koo Koo Klusterkluck, featuring an exclusive mini-song from Th’ Mole as well as the classic “Brush ‘Em” track by Mole alter-ego Captain Daydream. Also including Foxdye and a grand assortment of other talents, the compilation is free to download here.

Promoter/director/producer Sean Carnage recently took some time off from booking and hosting his infamous “Sean Carnage Mondays” event, affording him the chance to put together a mixtape of some of his favorite current music, including Th’ Mole’s “Zombie Dance Mind Programme” off of his Greatest Hits (Ha Ha Ha) Vol. 1 album. Download the mix and read more here.

Bay Area folks, be on the lookout for Th’ Mole performing on October 9 (The Bordello) and 11 (The Knockout) in San Francisco. Check myspace.com/themole for details.

And finally, Th’ Mole has just announced plans for his fifth European tour in February 2010. Interested venues/bookers/agents can contact jonah.themole@gmail.com.

Meanwhile Mole’s alter-ego, DJ 0.000001, has been making his own noise, releasing a split single with Mochipet (“Eazy-E On Atari“) via Chrome Kids and a full-length “thrash-up” album (Racin’ Music) via Hectic Records (coming soon to a blog near you).

Th’ Mole Wraps Up Tour + New Music Vid

After finishing 3.5 months of touring across the US and Europe, Th’ Mole has been working on new material and getting set for more shows throughout August and September, including a 5-day stint in Holland (including shows with Curse Ov Dialect and DJ 0.000001) followed by Burning Man. He also found the time to make the silly music video for his bitter break-up song “I Hate You” from the Greatest Hits (Ha Ha Ha) Vol. 1 album:

Being the media-crazed attention whore that he is, Th’ Mole has continued to grace newspapers, radio, and magazines in the last few months. You can stream or download his live performance and interview on Capital Public Radio (here). Also, Kinki Mag has run a few stories on Th’ Mole, including one for its latest issue (free online – pg. 72).

While Th’ Mole continues to toil away, you crazy fans can expect two or three free maxi-singles in the next few months. Meanwhile, don’t forget about the two latest free maxi-singles, How 2 B Cool (ft. Robot Koch & Ladyscraper) and Jump Jack (ft. Warrior Queen and Mochipet).

Mochipet in The New York Times

nytimes-logo

The New York Times Reviews Alarm Will Sound Playing Mochipet : “SOMETHING odd and fascinating is happening at the borders of classical music and pop right now. Particularly in new-music circles young musicians are searching for repertory in the pop avant-garde. There were inklings of this in the early 1990s, when arrangements of Frank Zappa pieces turned up in programs by the Meridian Arts Ensemble, the American Composers Orchestra and, in Europe, Ensemble Modern and the Ensemble Intercontemporain. But that seemed only modestly remarkable. Zappa, after all, had been composing symphonic works since the late 1960s, and these transcriptions of his rock works shared the spirit of those scores. And transcriptions of Jimi Hendrix songs by the Kronos Quartet, and Nirvana tracks by the Bang on a Can All-Stars, seemed amusing stunts, offered as encores.” [ READ MORE__]
